This is a fixed term post for 6 months (until March 2026), supporting the Urgent Emergency Care Improvement programme across Royal Free Hospital Health Unit. This post will lead an absence management reduction project within the Acute Medicine, ED and Elderly care (AMEDEC) division reporting to the HR Business Partner. This will entail reviewing current systems and processes for recording and reporting absences for all staff groups, education of managers on effective absence management and supporting the wellbeing of staff who are absent from work. In addition, the post holder will work alongside the HR Business Partnering team to improve the reporting of junior doctor sickness across the business unit and ensure effective use of the nursing roster system for effective leave planning.
The HRBP Advisor will work closely with the Employee relations RFH team to ensure a high-quality absence management service to the division.
In addition, the post holder will also work closely with other key stakeholders e.g. Occupational health, e-rostering, temporary staffing service etc.
There is a requirement for this post to work on-site for the majority of their time. Due to limited time of the project we are looking for an immediate start where possible.
• Undertake a deep dive into the current systems and processes for reporting and recording absence. Produce a report with outcome of deep dive and suggested areas of improvement.
• Introduce changes to systems and processes to ensure staff are management appropriately and consistently through the sickness policy.
• Perform administrative duties and tasks related to absence management.
• Education of managers on the sickness absence policy to ensure that this is being consistently applied across the AMEDEC division.
• Ensure system and process are in place for the on-going monitoring of absence.
• Help identify trends and support managers with development of interventions or changes to practice to pro-actively reduce sickness.
• Produce attendance reports to the relevant line managers and department head on a weekly basis for the purpose of continuous monitoring of absence in line with the absence management policies and procedures.
• Ensure employees are contacted on a regular basis during the period of absence from a wellbeing perspective.
• Monitor temporary staffing reports to check that this is being appropriately used to cover sickness in AMEDEC as well as the medical rota and nursing rotas.
