Art Director- Fashion & Textiles

Job description
As an experienced and visionary Art Director in the fashion and textile industry, your role will involve leading and elevating the creative development of textiles, prints, and visual concepts that align with the brand identity and market goals. You will collaborate closely with designers, product development teams, and marketing to ensure cohesive storytelling across collections and channels. A background from NIFT or an equivalent premier design institute is highly preferred.
• Key Responsibilities:
- Lead creative direction for seasonal textile and fashion collections, from concept to final product.
- Develop textile design strategies, mood boards, color stories, and fabric concepts aligning with brand identity and trend forecasts.
- Supervise and mentor a team of textile designers and junior creatives.
- Collaborate cross-functionally with merchandising, production, and marketing to align creative output with business goals.
- Oversee print development, fabric selection, and surface treatments (digital, woven, dyed, embroidered, etc.).
- Maintain awareness of fashion trends, sustainability practices, and emerging technologies in textiles.
- Present creative concepts to senior leadership and external partners as needed.
- Manage timelines, resources, and quality control throughout the creative process.
• Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Textile Design, Fashion Design, Fine Arts, or related field.
- 5+ years of experience in a creative leadership role within the fashion or textile industry.
- Strong portfolio showcasing original textile work and fashion collections with a commercial and artistic balance.
- Deep understanding of fabric construction, color theory, pattern development, and textile production.
- NIFT qualification or equivalent design education preferred.
- Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (Illustrator, Photoshop, InDesign); knowledge of CAD textile tools a plus.
- Proven experience leading and inspiring creative teams.
- Strong communication and presentation skills.
- Passion for innovation, sustainability, and storytelling through textiles.
• Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with international supply chains and fabric mills.
- Familiarity with sustainable materials and circular fashion practices.
- Background in both print and woven textile development.,
