Job Description

The Ministry of Highways, Safety Environment Resource Branch is seeking a highly motivated individual who is innovative and a strategic thinker to manage the Safety Training Program. Reporting to the Director of Safety Training, the Safety Training Manager is responsible for the implementation of the Ministry Safety Training Program, reviewing all training requests, incident investigations, and complaints and developing broad-based solutions to address them. You will actively participate in the research, design, development, and implementation of the strategic plan to address workplace health and safety within the Ministry.

Our candidate of choice will have knowledge of Adult Education best practices, Highway Traffic Act, Occupational Health and Safety Legislation and Regulations (The Saskatchewan Employment Act, and the Saskatchewan Occupational Health and Safety Regulations) and numerous other standards associated with occupational health and safety. You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills to be able to present information and respond to questions from stakeholders, managers, and employees.

Typically, the knowledge and abilities required for this position would be obtained through the completion of a National Construction Safety Officer (NCSO) and/or working towards obtaining in the next 12 months, as well as several years' experience working in a safety professional training role. The knowledge required for this position would typically be obtained through an Adult Education certificate or Canadian Registered Safety Technician (CRST) or OHS-related certification from a recognized educational/certification institution. An equivalent combination of education and experience may also be considered.
