The Position:
Reporting to the General Manager and interacting with Engineering Associates and external Engineering Professionals / Contractors, The Melbourne Hotel is seeking a professional and motivated Facility & Maintenance Engineering Technologist to oversee the Maintenance and Engineering Department. This position is a hands-on role which will see you engaged in all maintenance and engineering related activities within the hotel.
Key Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and oversee the operation, maintenance, and performance of building systems including mechanical, electrical, plumbing (MEP), HVAC, fire safety systems, and associated infrastructure within the facility.
Apply engineering principles and technical expertise to ensure efficient and reliable operation of facility systems, including power, water, ventilation, and environmental control systems.
Develop, implement, and monitor preventive and corrective maintenance programs to optimise system performance, reduce downtime, and extend asset lifecycle.
Analyse operational data, system performance, and energy consumption to identify inefficiencies and recommend improvements for enhanced sustainability and cost optimisation.
Provide technical input into the design, modification, and upgrading of building systems, including preparation of technical specifications, reports, and recommendations.
Coordinate and supervise maintenance activities, including work carried out by contractors and service providers, ensuring compliance with engineering standards, safety regulations, and quality requirements
Evaluate existing systems and infrastructure, conduct technical assessments, and recommend solutions for performance enhancement, refurbishment, or replacement.
Assist in planning and managing engineering projects, including budgeting, scheduling, and resource allocation, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery.
Ensure compliance with relevant Australian standards, building codes, health and safety regulations, and environmental requirements.
Liaise with external engineers, contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders to ensure effective communication, coordination, and integration of engineering activities.
Develop and implement risk management strategies, emergency procedures, and contingency plans to address system failures and operational disruptions.
Monitor and review maintenance records, technical documentation, and system reports to support decision-making and continuous improvement initiatives.
Support the implementation of new technologies and systems to improve operational efficiency, reliability, and sustainability of facility operations.
Provide technical guidance and support to maintenance personnel, ensuring adherence to engineering practices and operational standards.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Facilities Management, Engineering, Business Administration, or a related field.
Experience as Facilities Engineer / Technologist for a minimum of 3-years.
Excellent communication and organizational skills with the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented environment.
A willingness to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.
Experience in Hotel industry is a must.

Pay: $75,000.00 – $95,000.00 per year
