Job Title: Web Designer (Hybrid – Duncan, BC)

Organization: Cowichan Sportsplex
Location: Duncan, British Columbia
Employment Type: Contract / Part-Time (Hybrid: Remote & On-Site)

About Us:
The Cowichan Sportsplex is a 26-acre outdoor sports and recreation facility managed by the Chesterfield Sports Society, a non-profit charity.

Our current website (www.cowichansportsplex.com) is due for a full redesign. We’re looking for a creative and technically skilled Web Designer to help us bring this to life.

Overview:
The designer will lead the redesign of our existing website, ensuring it is visually appealing, easy to navigate, and responsive across devices. Ideally you have experience, understand web design trends, and can capture the energy and community focus of the Sportsplex.

This is a hybrid position – some on-site work at the Sportsplex in Duncan will be required (for photography and collaboration), but most design and development can be completed remotely.

Key Responsibilities:

Redesign and rebuild the Cowichan Sportsplex website to reflect our updated board and facility improvements
Improve site structure for easier navigation and mobile responsiveness
Integrate user-friendly features for news, events, and facility information
Capture and edit on-site photos to use throughout the site
Create graphics for web and social media use
Collaborate with the Executive Director to ensure consistent messaging and tone
Qualifications:

Proven experience in website design and development (WordPress or similar CMS preferred)
Strong graphic design skills
Ability to take high-quality photos for web use
Understanding of responsive and accessible web design
Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines
Video editing experience an asset but not required
