Job Profile: US Individual Tax Manager (1040, 1040NR, 2555) - CPA/EA Required
Job Summary: It is a remote US Tax and Accounting firm, seeking a highly skilled and experienced Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Enrolled Agent (EA) to join our team. The ideal candidate should possess excellent social skills to handle and onboard US clients, have in-depth individual tax knowledge, be a licensed CPA/EA, and have a proven track record of handling complex tax matters. In this role, you will be responsible for preparing and signing tax returns, providing tax planning advice, onboarding clients, developing processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs), and mentoring junior employees.
Responsibilities:
1. Tax Compliance:
• Prepare and sign tax returns for individuals. Should have international tax experience. Prepare forms like 1040, 1040NR, Sch C, Sch E, 2555, 1116, 5471 and others as required. Must know expat tax returns.
• Business tax knowledge is a plus.
• Stay updated on the latest tax laws, regulations, and filing requirements.
• Conduct comprehensive tax research and analysis.
2. Tax Planning and Advisory:
• Provide tax planning advice to clients, identifying opportunities for tax optimization and retirement strategies.
• Assist clients in making informed financial decisions by analyzing tax implications.
• Offer guidance on tax-efficient business structures, deductions, and credits (Sch C/Sch E).
3. Bookkeeping and Financial Reporting for Sch C/Sch E Clients:
• Ensure accurate recording of financial transactions.
• Generate financial statements, balance sheets, and income statements for sole proprietors. Bookkeeping experience is a plus!
4. Client Onboarding:
• Shadow and work closely with the firm and communicate with new clients
• Be able to deliver tax returns and other projects to US clients and handle all their inquiries independently.
• Should be available during US morning hours (India evening hours – max till 12 am IST) for some client calls
• Participate in client onboarding processes, including gathering necessary information, verifying documents, and setting up client profiles.
• Establish strong relationships with clients, addressing their concerns, and providing exceptional customer service.
5. Process Development and SOPs:
• Develop and implement efficient processes and standard operating procedures (SOPs) for firm operations, ensuring consistency and quality in service delivery.
• Streamline workflow and identify areas for improvement to enhance efficiency and productivity.
6. Mentoring and Training:
• Provide guidance and mentorship to junior employees, assisting in their professional development.
• Conduct training sessions on tax regulations, software tools, and best practices.
• Review the work of junior team members and provide constructive feedback.
• Qualifications:
• Licensed Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and Enrolled Agent (EA).
• Demonstrated experience in preparing and signing various tax forms, including 1040, 1040-NR, 5471, 5472, 1042-S, 8832, FBAR, FinCEN, 2555, 1116, 8621, 8+38.
• Business Tax Knowledge is a plus – Form 1120, 1120S, 1065, etc.
• Strong knowledge of individual tax regulations, laws, and compliance requirements.
• Proficiency in tax planning and advisory services.
• Experience with bookkeeping tasks and financial reporting.
• Ability to onboard and build strong relationships with clients.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
• Proven ability to develop and implement processes and SOPs.
• Ability to effectively teach and mentor junior employees
