BDO is a firm built on a foundation of positive relationships with our people and our clients. Each day, our professionals provide exceptional service, helping clients with advice and insight they can trust. In turn, we offer an award-winning environment that fosters a people-first culture with a high priority on your personal and professional growth.

Your Opportunity

Our Montreal office is looking for a bilingual Senior Law Clerk to join the BDO Law practice and own the following responsibilities:

Draft, review, and prepare legal documents and correspondence in both English and French related to tax disputes

Coordinate all stages of the tax controversy process, including support for court filings and hearings before the Tax Court of Canada and Quebec courts where applicable.

Conduct legal research on tax legislation, regulations, court decisions, and administrative policies from CRA and Revenu Québec.

Organize and maintain legal files, document books, and case materials, ensuring accuracy and compliance with deadlines and court procedures.

Work collaboratively with internal teams, including accountants and consultants, to support cross-functional legal services.

How do we define success for your role?

You demonstrate BDO's core values through all aspects of your work: Integrity, Respect, and Collaboration

You understand your clients' industry, challenges, and opportunities; clients describe you as positive, professional, and delivering high quality work

You identify, recommend, and are focused on effective service delivery to your clients

You share in an inclusive and engaging work environment that develops, retains, and attracts talent

You actively participate in the adoption of digital tools and strategies to drive an innovative workplace

You grow your expertise through learning and professional development

Assist in the preparation of litigation materials such as affidavits, exhibits, and court submissions.

Work closely with tax lawyers, accountants, and advisors to support comprehensive client strategies.

Act as a liaison between clients, government authorities, and internal legal and tax teams.

Your Experience and Education:

Minimum 5–7 years of experience as a Law Clerk or Paralegal, with direct experience in tax litigation, administrative law, or regulatory compliance.

Diploma or certificate from a recognized Law Clerk or Paralegal program.

Bilingualism (French and English) Required

Due to the frequent and complex contact with our English-speaking partners and clients in Quebec and outside of Quebec, and the need to draft documents in English, knowledge of English is essential for this position.

Solid understanding of Canadian tax law, CRA and Revenu Québec procedures, and Tax Court of Canada rules.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail, with the ability to manage multiple files and deadlines.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills for working with clients, government agencies, and legal professionals.

Excellent proficiency skills in Microsoft Office Suite, in particular Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and legal document preparation tools.

Eager to learn and/or comfortable using AI-powered tools
