As Senior Data Analyst, you'll play a specialist role in providing data, analysis and financial modelling on the Digitising Government Programme. You'll work closely with a Senior Business Analyst and team to provide timely data insights supporting decision making on the Centralising Investment and Centralising Procurement workstreams.
Your purpose-built data models will play a critical role in telling a story that will contribute to driving down digital cost in government including identifying where financial opportunities exist for system wide benefit realisation.
In this valuable role you will;
Identify, source and acquire financial data relevant to the delivery of Programme objectives within the Centralising Investment and Centralising Procurement workstreams
Provide quality information, data analysis and financial modelling advice to the programme team
Direct, organise, and lead data projects in the implementation and use of financial modelling
Evaluate and suggest improvements to existing financial processes, models and reporting methods
Analyse, interpret and effectively present information and data on investment and procurement issues that assist the programme team to formulate effective problem-solving strategies, policies, and programmes
Lead the development and implementation of new and existing data analysis methodologies and processes to support investment and procurement workstreams
Support workstream leads by providing expertise on the translation of data and design; and develop tools, techniques, metrics, and dashboards for insights and data visualisation
Facilitate and lead presentations, discussions and forums up to senior management level
Contribute to the effective management of compliance risk by applying a strategic, organised and systemic approach to analysing data from government agencies
Provide analysis that uncovers and provides understanding of the cost of digital in government and potential cost savings
Lead, establish, build, collaborate and maintain effective working relationships with key stakeholders within the Department and with public sector agencies
Participate in cross-departmental and agency working-and-interest groups.

You're a data weapon, able to apply both technical depth and analytical thinking to your mahi. A curious and methodical thinker, you understand the power of turning data into action and can confidently engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. You have extensive experience in the creation, translation and build of data models and work with a high degree of accuracy and detail, while maintaining an understanding of the bigger picture.

To excel in this role you will have;
In depth experience in forecasting, budgeting and financial analysis combined with understanding of key performance indicators within large, complex, and diverse organisations or programmes
Extensive experience undertaking financial and data analysis using modelling techniques and systems to support and provide financial insights to senior stakeholders
Experience in a comparable role on a large digital, ICT or transformation programme
Significant experience coordinating the preparation of financial information and data
In depth experience delivering analysis at strategic and operational levels.
Knowledge of, or interest in financial analysis methodologies and systems
An understanding of investment and procurement practices within Government (desirable)
An understanding of investment and procurement planning (desirable)
In depth knowledge of financial models and the application of these in complex environments
Strong capability to interpret incomplete information and make informed decisions in complex, fast changing contexts
Developing skills in the use of analytical tools, including excel and tools such as VBA, SQL, DAX, R, SAS or Access
Excellent written communication skills, both written and oral,
Understanding, or willingness to develop knowledge in operational processes of government and an understanding of wider political dimensions
Strong stakeholder management skills
