Te Haeata/The Opportunity

This is a senior role in the Te Tiratū team, working across the breadth of the team's responsibilities including:

supporting court operations,
business reporting,
machinery of government,
workplan initiatives,
supporting the court's digital solution Pātaka Whenua.
The Puna Kōrero Matua sits within the Te Tiratū team who work collaboratively within Operations and Service Delivery (OSD) to provide specialist advice by applying proven methodology and implementing business improvements that enhance efficient and effective customer-centric services across the Māori Land Court.

You will quickly design and deliver robust analysis and advice. As a confident communicator you will work with senior leaders of the Māori Land Court.

The Puna Kōrero Matua supports a culture that focuses on court users, continuous improvement and standardisation, accountability and employee engagement. A key focus of the role is to lead the implementation of small and quick fix business and service improvement initiatives, including knowledge base updates, and establishing and maintaining appropriate and effective internal and external relationships.


Ō pūkenga/Skills and Experience

The role of the Māori Land Court as a people's court is unique and if you believe you can bring value to the work of the court, we will support you to succeed.

To be successful in this role you will have:

Great organisational skills and a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
Experience working in a high-paced environment where you are required to respond to changing needs and priorities to manage large workloads.
Experience working with other business units, service providers and key stakeholders.
A good general knowledge of, and respect for, tikanga Māori and competence in, or a willingness to become competent in, Te Reo Māori.
Deep commitment to and evidence of putting the Treaty of Waitangi at the centre of decision-making and knowledge of Crown-Māori relationships.
Ability to see and convey the big picture while knowing how to achieve long term change.
Experience providing intellectual and functional leadership across and within organisations, including experience mentoring and developing junior staff and peers.
Attributes of being flexible, calm and resilient.

Utu ā-tau/Salary

The salary band for this role is $99,208 to $135,539 and appointing salary will be based on skills and experience.

In addition, a Te Reo Māori allowance (from $1,000 to $3,200) is available dependent on completion of an approved assessment or external verification.
