About this Role:
Under the general supervision of the Staff Services Manager I (SSM I), the Office Technician (OT) (Typing) in the IT Workforce Management Services Section (ITWMSS), IT Administration Support Branch (ITASB), has the responsibility of performing a wide range of complex clerical tasks and is expected to consistently exercise a high degree of initiative, independence in performing assigned duties and workload associated with the administrative support functions. The OT (T) works independently with minimal supervision, maintaining a breadth of responsibilities, interacting and communicating effectively with a variety of individuals, and exercising exceptional time management skills. The OT (T) works under pressure to meet deadlines and demonstrates good judgment.
The AC OT-T will perform administrative support functions for the Department of Health Care Services’ (DHCS) Enterprise Technology Services (ETS) program. The OT-T is responsible for the attendance functions of ETS and supports a variety of other Human Resources (HR) related tasks.

The SOQ must be typed, no more than two pages (2) in length and 12 pt. Arial font. The SOQ must address the following:
1: Timekeeping Experience
Describe your experience managing timekeeping and attendance for a unit or division? Specifically, what systems or tools have you used, and how did you ensure accuracy and compliance with deadlines?
2: Handling Opposition or Difficult Situations
Describe a situation where you received a request you initially disagreed with or felt opposed to. How did you handle the situation, and what steps did you take to maintain professionalism and achieve a resolution?

Telework and Salary Information
Telework: This position offers a hybrid work schedule as outlined in the telework information section; the amount of telework is based on the operational business needs. Beginning July 1, 2026, pursuant to Executive Order N-22-25 issued March 3, 2026, and California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) Statewide Guidance issued March 13, 2026, DHCS team members generally will be required to report in-person a minimum of four days per week unless exempted/excepted.
The DHCS office location for this position is: 1500 Capitol Avenue, Sacramento, CA 95814.
Business travel may be required, and reimbursement considers an employee’s designated office and residence, subject to regulations and bargaining unit contract provisions. All commute expenses to the reporting location will be the responsibility of the selected candidate.
Salary: Effective July 1, 2026, the California Department of Human Resources (CalHR) implemented the temporary Personal Leave Program 2026 (PLP 2026). PLP 2026 directs that each employee receive a temporary reduction in pay in exchange for PLP 2026 leave credits. The temporary salary reduction percentage and the number of PLP 2026 leave credits are based on the position’s associated bargaining unit.
