Job Summary:
We are seeking a highly experienced Staff Software Engineer (Backend) with expertise in Python, Kafka, Kubernetes, and AWS to architect and build scalable, robust backend systems. As a senior member of our team, you will lead the development of mission-critical services, contribute to the design of high-performance architectures, and mentor engineers across the organization. Your work will directly influence the success of our global product offerings.
Key Responsibilities:
Backend Architecture and Development:
Design, implement, and maintain scalable backend systems using Python to support high-traffic applications.
Build and optimize event-driven architectures and streaming platforms using Kafka.
Develop, deploy, and manage containerized applications on Kubernetes clusters.
Leverage AWS services (e.g., Lambda, EC2, S3, RDS, DynamoDB) to build cloud-native, serverless, and distributed applications.
System Optimization and Scaling:
Solve complex problems involving distributed systems, ensuring low latency and high reliability.
Optimize application performance by fine-tuning resource utilization and scaling strategies.
Implement best practices for monitoring, logging, and alerting in a microservices environment.
Collaboration and Mentorship:
Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including product managers, DevOps, and QA, to deliver high-quality solutions.
Lead technical discussions and decisions, ensuring alignment with long-term business objectives.
Mentor and coach junior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and excellence.
Innovation and Problem Solving:
Evaluate and implement new technologies to improve system capabilities and developer efficiency.
Troubleshoot production issues, ensuring system uptime and reliability.
Qualifications:
Required Skills and Experience:
8+ years of professional software development experience, with a focus on backend systems using Python.
Expertise in designing and building event-driven architectures with Kafka.
Proficiency in deploying and managing applications in Kubernetes environments.
Advanced knowledge of AWS services, including experience with serverless architectures and cloud infrastructure.
Experience working with microservices, distributed systems, and RESTful API design.
Strong understanding of database technologies (SQL and NoSQL) and caching strategies.
Solid grasp of DevOps principles, including CI/CD pipelines, monitoring, and logging.
Preferred Skills:
Familiarity with asynchronous programming in Python (e.g., asyncio, Celery).
Experience with Infrastructure as Code (IaC) tools like Terraform or CloudFormation.
Knowledge of data serialization formats such as Avro or Protobuf.
Exposure to observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, or Datadog.
