Remote SRE|Platform Engineer | Turing

A fast-growing company that is changing the way in which software integrates with customers and data users is looking for a SRE/Platform Engineer. The selected candidate will be in charge of architecting, developing and managing the company’s infrastructure. Along with the other members of the platform team, the engineer will be responsible for the reliability, security and scalability of the infrastructure. The company has team members in the USA and in Australia and the candidate’s rotation will generally be during standard daylight working hours and will be on call during weekends. This is a full time position that requires 4 hours of overlap with the AEST time zone. (UTC+10.00hs)

Job Responsibilities:
• Implement changes to improve the stability and reliability of the existing platform
• Think ahead and avoid quick fixes
• Build robust easy-to-use platforms and tools that allow engineering teams to provision services rapidly, consistently, and securely
• Develop tools and applications that use clean code, ensuring code quality, efficiency and standards
• Be part of the on-call rotation, owning the EU hours +am-5pm CET, and respond to operational incidents during on-call hours

Job Requirements:
• Bachelor’s/Master’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science (or equivalent experience)
• At least 4+ years of relevant experience as a software developer
• Prolific experience and strong interest in scaling databases and data storage (PostgreSQL, Redshift), key-value stores, messaging, and distributed systems
• Strong coding/scripting knowledge in Bash, Ruby, Python, Java or a C-based language
• Analytical mind with problem-solving aptitude
• A strong fundamental understanding of backend components such as databases, web protocols and networking
• Demonstrable experience with real-time, event-driven data pipelines and technologies such as Kafka
• Strong practical experience with AWS, Docker and Terraform
• Contributions to major open source projects will be a plus
• Ability to work independently and experience working in remote teams
• Experience with Go or Rust is nice to have
• Excellent spoken and written English communication
