Staff Accountant

Job description
We are in search of a Staff Accountant to join our client within the Government sector in ANN ARBOR, Michigan. The role involves a variety of accounting tasks, focusing on areas such as Accounts Payable (AP), Accounts Receivable (AR), Bank Reconciliations, and General Ledger management.

Responsibilities:

• Execute and maintain all aspects of Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)

• Conduct regular bank reconciliations to ensure accuracy

• Manage the general ledger, ensuring it's accurate and up-to-date

• Prepare and post journal entries as part of the month-end close process

• Use Great Plains (GPAC) for various accounting tasks

• Contribute to non-profit accounting tasks, as required

• Ensure all financial reporting deadlines are met

• Maintain financial security by following internal accounting controls

• Contribute to team efforts by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
• Proficient in Accounts Payable (AP) and Accounts Receivable (AR)
• Experience with Bank Reconciliations
• Familiarity with General Ledger management
• Ability to prepare and record Journal Entries accurately
• Experience with Month End Close procedures
• Knowledge of Non-profit Accounting principles and practices
• Proficiency in using Great Plains (GPAC) software
• Minimum of two years of experience in a similar role in the Government sector
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
• High level of integrity and dependability with a strong sense of urgency and results-orientation.
