Senior Fund Accountant - Boston, MA - Asset Management

Our team is working with a leading publicly traded asset management in Boston to hire a Senior Accountant to their growing team. This role will play a critical part in fund operations, overseeing accounting activities, conducting research, and ensuring the accuracy and integrity of our investment data and financial reporting processes.

Responsibilities:
• Support with the day-to-day accounting operations for our investment funds, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records.
• Perform daily reconciliation of cash, positions, and transactions for the fund, identifying and resolving discrepancies as needed.
• Review and validate trade activity, corporate actions, and other transactions to ensure proper accounting treatment in accordance with industry standards and regulatory requirements.
• Assist in the preparation and distribution of financial statements, investor reports, and other regulatory filings for the funds.
• Conduct research and analysis on accounting issues, investment transactions, and regulatory changes, providing recommendations and solutions to management as needed.
• Prepare financial statements and related reporting for review, including SEC filings as applicable.
• Assist and support with managing the external audit process, including quarterly reviews and diligence projects.
• Help streamline existing processes and enhance operational efficiency within the fund accounting team, leveraging technology and automation where applicable.
• Stay informed about industry developments, accounting standards, and best practices in fund accounting, ensuring compliance and adherence to industry norms.

Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA designation preferred.
• 2+ years of experience in fund accounting.
• Strong understanding of accounting principles and practices, with the ability to apply them to complex investment structures and transactions.
• Excellent research skills, with the ability to analyze information, identify key insights, and propose effective solutions.
• Demonstrated ability to manage recurring processes and monthly/quarterly close calendars.

Experience with process improvement initiatives, including the ability to streamline existing processes and implement best practices.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other financial software applications; experience with fund accounting systems preferred.
