Job Description
As part of the Commercial Banking Digital Platform Engineering Team Software engineer III - Backend Developer , you will be responsible for building Platform Engineering initiatives to help drive developer productivity across Commercial Bank. The engineer will be responsible for building Internal Developer Platforms and tools as a self-service layer that allows developers to interact independently with their organization’s delivery setup, enabling them to self-serve environments, deployments, databases, logs and anything else they need to run their applications
Job responsibilities
Set the standard by writing high-quality code that is performant, reusable, and secure while adhering to industry best practices
Develops secure and high-quality production code, and reviews and debugs code written by others
Drives decisions that influence the product design, application functionality, and technical operations and processes
Serves as a function-wide subject matter expert in one or more areas of focus
Actively contributes to the engineering community as an advocate of firmwide frameworks, tools, and practices of the Software Development Life Cycle
Influences peers and project decision-makers to consider the use and application of leading-edge technologies
Adds to the team culture of diversity, equity, inclusion, and respect
Required qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Formal training or certification on software engineering concepts and 5+ years applied experience
Hands-on experience in building and deploying applications on Hyperscalers – AWS, GCP and Azure
Strong Kubernetes experience and contribution to Cloud Native projects such as Envoy and Istio
Deep understanding of Developer Workflows and CI/CD automation
Experienced in Building Internal Developer Platforms and Tooling and CLI (command line interface) using Golang, Python and shell scripting
Experienced in building event driven distributed microservices using Java, Golang, Node.js, Kafka and Databases
Strong experience in Infra Automation and deployment strategies (Canary/Blue-Green)
Preferred qualifications, capabilities, and skills
Building tools to improve Developer efficiency and productivity
Worked as a platform developer advocate
Experience using Terraform, Infra as code and Pipeline as code
