Title: QA Engineer – Routing/ Switching

Job Description

CIENA's Routing and Switching portfolio comprises of a broad family of products for access and aggregation tiers of the network. Typically spanning from the Metro edge to the customer edge, these products provide Carrier Ethernet/MPLS/G.8032/TDM services in mobile backhaul, enterprise and residential domains.
We are looking for fresh college graduates, who are ready to take up this exciting and challenging responsibility; learn and contribute to the latest networking (routing and switching) technologies that shape the future of Next Generation networks.
Responsibilities Include
• Develop, execute, and automate functional test plans to verify product capabilities
• Execution of test cases and reporting test results with artifacts using “TestRail”; and report product and script defects using “Agile Jira”
• Automation of different features using Python as the primary scripting language
• Work closely with engineers across teams to ensure quality for the features.
• Coordinate activities with North America test and development teams on a need basis.
• Attend test plans, Functional Specifications and Scripts review which will help ramp up the feature/ product knowledge, which would be required later to develop new test plans.
• Go through different RFCs, Standards (ITU-T, IEEE etc.) related to the supported features on product, and use that knowledge to further improve upon the quality of product
Required Skills
• Position requires troubleshooting and problem-solving skills
• Understanding of different Network technologies at Layer 3 (Routing) and Layer 2 (Switching); which includes knowledge of some of the protocols like OSPF, ISIS, BGP, VLAN, RSTP.
• Good programming skills in scripting language preferably Python.
• Able to think key scenarios, write test cases, automate & execute test cases.
• Team oriented; strong inter-personal skills
• Demonstrated communications skills, both verbal and written, to effectively communicate/collaborate with remote QA and Development teams
• Strong commitment to product excellence and quality
Required Experience
• B.E/ B.Tech/MCA/ M.Tech Degree in Electronics & Communication or Computer Engineering
• Exposure data communication systems, networking, Ethernet switches.
• Hands-on experience in programming/ script development preferably in Python.
