Special Education - ELA

SPECIAL EDUCATION TEACHER – ELA – GRADES 1-8

United Staffing a leader in the staffing industry has the privilege of assisting a small, private special education school in hiring a Certified ELA Special Education Teacher. The ideal candidate has experience working with Grades 1-8 in a special education setting and experience developing and preparing curriculum. A team spirit with the ability to collaborate with the support staff will result in a meaningful and successful teaching experience.

This is a 12-month program. Working during July and August is optional.

Salary - $75,000-$90,000 depending on experience

Excellent benefits package – Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K, PTO

Hours – Monday-Friday, 8am-4pm. Occasional monthly meetings that may require light overtime.

Responsibilities for the ELA Special Education Teacher:

Motivate students and teach skills and strategies
Complete CPI training provided by school
Help students develop social skills
Incorporate various modes of learning
Responsible for writing the curriculum and various reports
Ability to work with a multi-sensory literary program
Requirements for the ELA Special Education Teacher:

Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education
Valid NYS Special Education Certification
Certification in multi-sensory literary instruction (Orton Gillingham highly preferred)
Minimum of 2 years previously teaching ELA in a special education setting
Working knowledge of IEPs
Experience working with children that have a variety of disabilities
Ability to work with parents, teachers and faculty
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Must be able to provide 3 employment references
