Job Description And Duties

METROPOLITAN STATE HOSPITAL- Located in Norwalk, Los Angeles County

The Department of State Hospitals, MSH, is currently accepting applications for permanent, full-time Respiratory Care Practitioner position in Norwalk.

Under the direction of the Chief Physician and Surgeon. The Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) assist in diagnosis, treatment, and management of patients with breathing or cardiopulmonary disorders in a manner commensurate with that specified by the Respiratory Care Board of California. Administer diagnostic test to determine the nature and extent of respiratory disorders; set up and administer routine and complex respiratory procedures to patients as prescribed by a physician.

Candidates for this position should be self-motivated, organized, flexible and reliable with good assessment skills. The RCP should possess the qualities of the ability to prioritize and be able to assess and promote patient’s medical care with internal and external medical teams.

Desirable qualifications: Candidates shouldAbe well organized, exercise the ability to work independently, have good communication skills and work well with others. Ability to operate respiratory care. Computer skills are highly desired.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: Graduation from a school of respiratory therapy approved by the American Medical Association Council on Medical Education for Training of Respiratory Therapists or one supported by the Joint Review Committee for Respiratory Therapy Education and A certificate to practice Respiratory Care issued by the Division of Allied Health Profession of the Board of Medical Quality Assurance of the State of California.
