Potentially Vacant Permanent Full-Time Position | Commencing August 2026 (Exact date to confirm)

The Librarian is responsible for organising and managing the Primary Library, coordinating book loans, supporting school projects, and leading literacy-related activities and events. The role requires strong interpersonal skills, adaptability, and the ability to work confidently in a bilingual (French/English) environment.

Library Management & Student Engagement

Ensure the Library is organised, welcoming and attractive for students, staff and visitors
Enrol and welcome students, encouraging a love of reading and the development of regular reading habits
Develop and manage documentary and pedagogical collections, including book loans
Write, display and enforce Library rules and regulations in a clear and positive manner

Teaching & Learning Support

Support and guide teachers and students with research and school projects
Lead themed sessions related to books, reading and curriculum projects
Contribute to the development of a Teachers’ Pedagogical Library

Events & Community Engagement

Welcome families, listen to and understand their expectations
Assist in organising and attending school events (author visits, Christmas market, school fête, etc.)
Coordinate, with the Head of Primary, a monthly calendar of Library events and themes

Administration & Compliance

Manage the Library budget
Maintain accurate, secure records and files in line with legislative and compliance requirements
In collaboration with the Head of Compliance, ensure secure storage and archiving of key documents

Continuous Improvement & Collaboration

Maintain awareness of contemporary library and education practices
Review processes and identify opportunities to improve service, efficiency and effectiveness
Undertake additional duties consistent with the role, as directed by the Principal

Skills and Experiences:
​Certificate IV or Diploma in Library and Information Services (or equivalent qualification)
1–2 years’ experience in a similar library or information services role
Strong customer focus with the ability to build lasting relationships and deliver an engaging user experience
Fluent in French and English (spoken and written), with strong cultural sensitivity when communicating across languages
Solid knowledge of library systems, including BCDI (strong advantage)
Good understanding of the Dewey Decimal Classification system, and ability to present the “Marguerite” classification clearly to students
Strong interest and knowledge in children’s literature (ages 3–11)
Highly proficient in IT and ICT tools, with an openness to technological innovation
Ability to research effectively, anticipate needs, and manage book ordering and renewal processes
Strong ability to identify and source relevant information efficiently
