Transport Refrigeration Mechanic

We are seeking a skilled and reliable Transport Refrigeration Mechanic to install, maintain, diagnose, and repair refrigeration and cooling systems across commercial and/or industrial sites. The role requires strong technical knowledge, fault-finding ability, and a commitment to safety and compliance standards. The ideal candidate is hands-on, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently or as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities

Install, commission, and test refrigeration and cooling systems
Perform routine maintenance and scheduled servicing
Diagnose faults and carry out repairs on refrigeration equipment
Work on commercial refrigeration units, chillers, freezers, and cool rooms
Read and interpret technical drawings and wiring diagrams
Conduct leak detection and refrigerant recovery/recharging
Ensure all work complies with safety and environmental regulations
Complete service reports and job documentation accurately
Liaise with clients and supervisors regarding job status and findings
Respond to breakdowns and emergency call-outs when required
Required Qualifications & Licences

Relevant trade qualification in Refrigeration & Air Conditioning
Valid Refrigerant Handling Licence (ARCtick or equivalent)
Restricted or Unrestricted Electrical Licence (if required by state)
White Card (for construction sites)
Current Driver’s Licence
Working at Heights / EWP (advantageous)
Skills & Experience

Proven experience as a Refrigeration or HVAC Technician
Strong fault-finding and troubleshooting skills
Knowledge of commercial and/or industrial refrigeration systems
Ability to read schematics and technical manuals
Good problem-solving and analytical skills
Ability to work under pressure and meet service deadlines
Strong attention to detail and safety awareness
Good communication and customer service skills
Physical Requirements

Ability to lift and carry tools and equipment
Comfortable working in confined spaces and at heights
Able to work in hot, cold, or noisy environments
Fit for field and site work
Job Types: Full-time, Casual

Pay: $33.00 – $35.00 per hour

Expected hours: 38 per week
