Position Summary
Full time position reporting directly to the Accessibility Services Center Director. The position provides academic accommodations and support directly to students with disabilities and the faculty and staff that serve students requiring accommodations. The Specialist will determine eligibility for services, conduct interactive interviews with students to establish accommodation plans, and monitor those plans to find the most effective range of services. This position will share responsibility for all document conversions for students with disabilities, including but not limited to, electronic and Braille formats. Develops and monitors accommodation requests for Assistance Animals in University Housing. This position in partnership with the ASC leadership team will maintain the assistive technology and alternative format student databases in accordance to FERPA and university policies.


Job Duties
Required and Preferred Qualifications
Required Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Education, Special Education, Counseling, Psychology, Student Services, Information Services or closely related field.

Required Experience
Two-year’s experience working with different types of disabilities and operationalizing into reasonable accommodations, experience with alternative formatting and/or accessible technology.

Required License/Certification
N/A

Required Additional Qualifications:
Knowledge of ADA/ADAA and Section 504 & Section 508.

Preferred Education
N/A

Preferred Experience
Experience working with students with disabilities, specifically with visual impairment, previous experience with text conversion in an academic setting, ability to manage multiple projects at the same time, and knowledge of current trends in assistive technology.
