Accountant – Union Payroll

Job Description

We are seeking a Remote Accountant with expertise in union payroll and benefits accounting to support a carpentry subcontractor in processing wages and ensuring compliance with union agreements.
• Union Payroll Processing: Manage and process payroll for union workers in compliance with California union regulations and agreements.
• Benefits & Deductions: Track, calculate, and reconcile union benefits, pension contributions, health insurance, and other deductions.
• Compliance & Reporting: Ensure adherence to prevailing wage laws, certified payroll reporting (Davis-Bacon Act), and California union labor laws.
• Accounts Payable & Receivable: Process invoices related to labor costs, track payments to workers and benefits providers.
• Reconciliation: Perform bank reconciliations and ensure accuracy in payroll-related accounts.
• Financial Documentation: Maintain payroll records, generate reports, and assist in audits related to union labor costs.
• Software Management: Utilize QuickBooks, Yardi, or payroll software for accurate record-keeping and reporting.
Qualifications & Experience
• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5+ years of experience in union payroll accounting, preferably for construction subcontractors in California.
• Strong understanding of union wage structures, benefits, and prevailing wage laws.
• Proficiency in QuickBooks, Yardi, or similar accounting software.
• Experience with certified payroll reporting (Davis-Bacon Act) and union benefits reconciliation.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to work independently in a remote setting.
