About Us

The Nanaimo Disability Resource Centre (NDRC) is a registered non-profit organization dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities and seniors to live independently and participate fully in their community. We offer essential programs such as Parking Permit for People with Disabilities, Computer and Technology School (CaTS), Information & Referral Resource Program (IRRP), and Income Tax Assistance (CVITP).

We are looking for an experienced Website Developer/Designer to create a new, modern, and accessible website that reflects our mission, improves community engagement, and enhances online accessibility for people of all abilities.

Project Overview

We are transitioning from an older platform to a new, professional, and easy-to-maintain website (Wix preferred). The new site should:

Highlight our programs and services clearly.
Include dedicated pages for Volunteers, Board Members, and Donations.
Integrate contact forms, online booking links, and accessibility features (AODA/WCAG 2.1 compliance).
Showcase our history, impact, and community partnerships.
Be optimized for mobile and desktop viewing.
Responsibilities

Design and develop a responsive, visually engaging website using Wix or another approved CMS.
Work with the NDRC Program Manager to plan site structure and user flow.
Incorporate brand elements (logos, colors, fonts) consistently.
Ensure the website is easy to update by non-technical staff.
Implement SEO best practices and accessibility compliance.
Provide documentation and a brief training session post-launch.
Qualifications

Proven experience designing and building websites (portfolio required).
Strong understanding of accessibility and responsive design.
Experience with Wix, WordPress, or other CMS platforms.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with non-profit teams.
Familiarity with SEO, Google Workspace, and analytics tools is a plus.

Pay: $18.00 per hour

Expected hours: 10 per week
