Job description
Part-Time Snowflake Administrator (Contract)

Location: Remote | Type: Contractor (Outside IR35) | Start Date: ASAP | Time Commitment: 2 days/week | Rate: Competitive, based on experience

We’re looking for an experienced Snowflake Administrator to join us on a part-time, contract basis. You’ll be responsible for ensuring the performance, efficiency, and reliability of our Snowflake environment. This role focuses on Snowflake as a database system—including query optimisation, schema design, and data orchestration—not general infrastructure or networking.

Role Overview

This is a flexible role ideal for someone who wants to contribute to a robust data platform without a full-time commitment. You’ll be our go-to expert for Snowflake database operations, managing performance, storage, compute resources, and access control, while collaborating with engineers working on data ingestion (e.g. via AWS or Databricks).

Key Responsibilities
• Monitor and maintain the stability, performance, and cost-efficiency of our Snowflake environment
• Design and optimise database schemas, tables, and queries
• Oversee Snowflake roles, access controls, and compute resource configurations
• Support orchestration of data ingestion workflows from tools like AWS and Databricks
• Troubleshoot issues related to query performance, access, and storage
• Proactively identify opportunities for optimisation or improvement in how Snowflake is used
• Collaborate with engineering teams on data modelling, query tuning, and best practices

Key Skills and Experience
• Deep expertise in Snowflake database administration
• Strong understanding of query performance tuning, schema design, and storage/compute configuration in Snowflake
• Familiarity with tools and patterns for ingesting data into Snowflake (e.g. AWS, Databricks)
• Proficient in orchestrating data workflows within Snowflake
• Ownership mindset with excellent problem-solving skills
• Ability to work independently and communicate effectively with technical teams

We are acting as an employment agency for this position. We are proud to be an equal opportunities employer and welcome applicants from all backgrounds, identities, and walks of life.
