Full job description
The Accountant assists in the collection, codification, recording, and reporting of financial and statistical information, along with assisting in meeting all related compliance filings. This position maintains fiscal records in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles and the rules and regulations established by the Public Service Commission of Wisconsin.

Examples of Duties and Responsibilities:

Assists in preparation of monthly financial statements.

Calculates and records fixed asset additions and retirements as well as monthly depreciation expense.

Prepares reconciliations and closings of varying department work orders and projects.

Reconciles monthly sales information for Management reporting.

Prepares and bills monthly contracts, customer orders, and other invoicing as needed.

Assists in maintaining the finance, timesheet, payroll, and requisition systems and implementing any updates to rules and regulations.

Provides support for other positions in the Accounting department and assists with duties as needed.

Sample of Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or related field from an accredited college or university

Experience in accounting or auditing preferred, prior utility experience ideal.

In-depth knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles as well as utility accounting systems and procedures

Ability to learn and understand utility operations and PSC rules and regulations

Starting Pay Rate: $64,900-$88,000 based on experience level.
