Position: Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Analyst
Location: Toronto (Hybrid – 2 days onsite per week)
Reporting To: Manager, Security Operations
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Data Loss Prevention (DLP) Analyst to join the Security Operations team. This role is critical in monitoring, analyzing, and responding to DLP alerts and events to protect sensitive data from unauthorized access, leakage, or loss. The analyst will play a vital role in safeguarding the organization's intellectual property, customer data, and compliance posture.
Key Responsibilities:
• Lead the design, implementation, and management of enterprise-wide DLP solutions across endpoints, email, web, network, and cloud environments.
• Investigate and triage DLP alerts/incidents, determining nature, severity, and impact.
• Act as the escalation point for complex DLP incidents, performing detailed analysis, root cause investigation, and coordinating remediation efforts.
• Collaborate with Legal, Compliance, and other stakeholders to assess data protection needs and recommend policy enhancements.
• Optimize and tune DLP policies to improve detection and reduce false positives.
• Coordinate with SOC and IT teams to address and remediate DLP violations.
• Maintain and update documentation for DLP policies, procedures, and incident response activities.
• Support periodic audits, compliance reviews, and risk assessments.
• Stay current on data protection threats, technologies, and regulatory requirements (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in Cybersecurity or equivalent work experience.
• 5+ years of experience in Cybersecurity with a focus on DLP.
• Hands-on experience with tools such as Symantec DLP, Microsoft Purview, Forcepoint, or Digital Guardian.
• Familiarity with security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, ISO 27001).
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with excellent documentation abilities.
• Knowledge of data classification, encryption, and secure handling practices.
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently in a dynamic environment.
