JUNIOR STAFF ACCOUNTANT
Job Summary
The role of the Junior Staff Accountant is to support the Senior Accountants in all transactions, duties, and initiatives regarding monthly account reconciliations, credit card and employee expense report coding, accounts receivable and payable reconciliation, and other special projects as may be assigned to support the monthly close process. The Jr. Staff Accountant will have great attention to detail, be extremely organized and have a good working knowledge of accounting concepts, and principles. Knowledge of project accounting is a big plus.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
Ensure our facility as well as our employees, visitors and contractors are in compliance with all state, local and federal regulations and safety requirements, reporting any concerns or issues to management.
This position is onsite at our offices in Sarasota Florida (not remote or hybrid)
Performs account reconciliations
Assists Team with the preparation of monthly accruals
Assists Team with monthly close and associated monthly reporting
Assists Team with credit card and employee expense report coding
Assists with division AR and AP reconciliations
Identifies areas of improvement and potential cost savings
Participates in preparation and review of audit materials and work papers as required for internal and external audits
Helps in obtaining the proper approvals and project coding for all incoming and outgoing transactions
Ensures adherence to internal delegation of authority policy
Helps to ensure all transactions are accurate and processed in a timely manner.
Assists with reconciling general ledger accounts
Acts with a sense of urgency and professionalism to internal and external inquiries via email and phone
Helps with any special projects, software migrations, and testing with respect to financial data and accuracy of such systems.
Provide coverage for team members during absences
Other work as assigned
Qualifications & Requirements
Qualified candidates must be Authorized US Persons under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). US Persons under ITAR are defined as either U.S. citizens, lawful permanent residents (Green Card holders), or certain individuals granted protected status.
Quaified candidates should be comfortable around and are required to be lawfully permitted to work in a facility that handles and stores firearms and ammunition.
Minimum of Associates Degree in Accounting or Finance required, a Bachelors Degree in Accounting or Finance or a related field is preferred.
2+ years of relevant experience is preferred.
Self-motivated and focused with strong attention to detail and high ethical standards
Working knowledge of GAAP
Ability to work independently or as part of a Team
Ability to manipulate and summarize large amounts of data using MS Excel
Proficient in Microsoft Office products such as Excel, Outlook, and Teams and in using Accounting related computer systems to setup queries, enter data, and process information
Strong organizational skills and analytical / logical approach
Professional demeanor with the ability to work with suppliers, customers and company stakeholders
Working knowledge of Microsoft Dynamics 365 ERP system preferred, but experience with other systems such as SAP and NetSuite also advantageous.
Ability to think and work outside the box.
Physical Demands & Abilities
· Regularly spend long hours sitting and using office equipment and computers
· Regularly move from sitting to standing positions effortlessly
· Frequently work in on projects that require deadlines
· Must be able to lift or exert upwards of 25lbs frequently
Working Conditions: Most of the work will be completed in an office environment, with some possible auditing and inventory in a warehouse.
