Assistant Footwear Designer

Please note this position is on-site in North Brunswick, New Jersey with occasional office time in our New York office.

DESCRIPTION:

We are seeking a highly motivated and creative individual to join our dynamic team and company. The assistant designer will handle design and development for multiple brands. They will be responsible for bringing a product concept to reality through:

researching inspiration, developing new design concepts, shopping & assessing competitors,

sketching ideas, creating tech packages, CADS, and clearly communicating changes required to deliver excellent product to the market.

ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

-Sample coordination: Shipping samples, daily packages, passing/following up on samples to photographer, & organizing samples.

-Manages the shared drive and updates all sample photos/references received.

-Creates flat technical Illustrator or hand sketches for Design development tech packs.

-Create and execute color cads using Photoshop and Illustrator

-Create Design development tech pack components accurately. Modify and update information on linesheets and miniwalls as necessary throughout development cycle.

-Execute product details, including but not exclusive of: construction, color, form, style, fit,

materials, detail, comfort, and cost/value requirements.

-Daily China communication: construction sourcing/sample follow up/linesheet updates

-Prepare presentation materials for milestone meetings: linesheets, material boards, WGSN decks, merchant documents, etc…

-assist during design-driven meetings/presentations— sample set up/tear down, take accurate notes

-Update & maintain material library.

-Ongoing market research/forecasting trends

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

-Proficiency in: Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop , Windows (Outlook / Word / Excel / Powerpoint) & hand sketching

-Stand out portfolio of fashion design/footwear or accessory design/hardware

-Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment & to manage multiple projects at the same time

-Salary based on experience
