Job Purpose

As the Planning Manager of the Project at Sterling and Wilson, you will provide strategic leadership in the planning, coordination, scheduling and monitoring, cost control, profitability and positive cash flow and successful on time completion of the project within the designated entity. Your role will involve overseeing project management activities, ensuring monitoring and control quality, safety, and environmental standards adherence, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to optimize project delivery processes.

Roles & Responsibilities

Key Responsibility Areas

Objective Key Responsibilities (OKRs)
• Project Planning and Coordination: Lead and manage projects efficiently, ensuring detailed planning and control, cost optimization, scheduling, coordination with internal and external stakeholders of the Project. Contractual Claims Management: Responsible for timely and accurate preparation of delay analysis reports to identify potential project delays and associated costs. Effective management and submission of contractual claims to safeguard the company's interests and minimize financial exposure.
• Project Progress Reporting: Accountable for enabling the preparation of detailed weekly/monthly progress reports, including updated schedules, to meet or exceed customer requirements. Reports should provide clear insights into project status, milestones achieved, and areas requiring attention. Enable efficient weekly internal project progress reviews to ensure ongoing projects are on track. Implement a rigorous monitoring and follow-up system for critical deadlines to prevent delays and meet project objectives.
• Fostering Innovation and Value Engineering: Cultivate a culture of innovation and continuous improvement within the project team. Encourage and support value engineering initiatives to enhance project execution capabilities. Promote the adoption of the latest mechanized means for improved efficiency and quality.
• Assisting in Strategic Sourcing Initiatives: Assisting strategic sourcing efforts to optimize project costs while maintaining quality standards. Identify opportunities for cost savings and efficiency improvements through strategic sourcing partnerships. Ensure effective vendor coordination to achieve project objectives. Accountable for quarterly joint steering review and margin analysis. Responsible for preparing reports for periodic reviews to evaluate project performance, margin trends, and risk factors. Identification of strategies to improve project margins and overall financial health.
• Management Review Preparation and Execution: Accountable for preparing and conducting management reviews according to organizational requirements. Ensuring these reviews effectively communicate project statuses, challenges, and strategic recommendations. Comprehensive tracking and monitoring of overall manpower status across projects. Assist Project Manager in strategies for optimal manpower utilization to ensure project efficiency and effectiveness
• Representation and Engagement with External Stakeholders: Act as the secondary point of contact (Primary: Project Manager) for external stakeholders, including clients, contractors, and regulatory authorities. Foster positive relationships and collaboration to support project success. Represent the organization in industry forums, conferences, and events.

• Achievement of quarterly management review objectives regarding revenue, billing, and collection.
• Efficiency in tracking and updating project and manpower statuses.

Job Qualifications and Requirements

Knowledge and Experience
• 10+ years of progressive experience in Project Planning and Coordination, preferably in the EPC Transmission and Distribution industry.
• 5+ years of progressive experience in Power Supply Contracts (Substation and EHV Cable) of Metro Projects.

Education and Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in engineering, Construction Management, or a related field.
• Master’s degree or professional certification in Project Management or Business Administration is preferred.
• Proficient in Excel, MS Word and Power Point Presentations
• Certification in SAP, Primavera, MS Projects (Preferred)
