Accountant – Medical practice

What we're looking for

Degree in Accounting or Finance with 1+ years of relevant experience in an Accountant or similar role
Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures
Proficient in using accounting software and MS Office suite
Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Strong communication and interpersonal skills
Familiarity with Australian tax and regulatory requirements
Experience in the aged care industry (Preferred)
Account Receivables & Payable roles
Experience in Claims Reconciliation
Demonstrated experience in Generating invoices and account statements
Producing monthly financial and management reports
What You’ll Do

Accounts receivable functions which include but not limited to receipting and reconciliation of payments, maintenance, and recovery of outstanding debtors.
Manage effective credit control levels and maintain systems to report outstanding debt and recovery.
Collection of payments including investigating and resolving queries in person, telephone and email.
Assist with claims to Medicare, DVA and Private Health Insurance funds and resolving billing exceptions and /or errors.
· Prepare and manage financial reports, balance sheet reconciliations, and profit & loss statements.

· Handle BAS preparation and ensure compliance with regulations.

· Maintain cash flow forecasts and fixed asset registers.

· Assist with month-end and year-end processes, including accruals, prepayments, reconciliations, and reporting.

· Develop and distribute operational dashboards to provide insights into financial performance.

· Support process improvements, budgeting, and external audits.

Compliance and Reporting: 

Ensure compliance with Australian payroll laws and regulations, including Fair Work Act, Superannuation Guarantee, and PAYG withholding. 
Prepare and submit statutory reports and filings as required (e.g. payroll tax, Single Touch Payroll).

Pay: $80,000.00 per year
