Position: Staff Accountant (temporary, one year maternity leave term cover)

Job description:

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Staff Accountant is part of the Vercity finance team. The finance team is responsible for multiple projects managed within a Public Private Partnership (P3) environment. Duties mainly include the maintenance of financial records, processing of payments, raising of invoices and general administrative duties relating to Project support.

Key responsibilities:

Accounts payable including preparation a summary of recommended payments for review and processing payments in the bank;
Accounts receivable including preparation of sales invoices;
Preparation of standard monthly journals and posting onto the accounting system;
Assists with full cycle accounting;
Preparing monthly bank reconciliations;
Preparing GST/HST returns;
Assists with preparation of month end reports;
Assist with year-end audit working papers;
Communicate and work with various internal & external customers;
Attend monthly meetings;
Participate in the development of the finance function, team and systems;
Administrative and other duties as required
Requirements:

Relevant accounting experience and/or education

Excellent communication skills

Ability to work both independently and in a team environment

Pay: From $42,000.00 per year
