Job Description
As the Chef at Broadwater Café, you will be responsible for leading all aspects of kitchen operations with professionalism, creativity, and care. You will develop and maintain a fresh seasonal menu, be responsible for preparing and presenting high-quality dishes, manage kitchen staff and uphold food safety and hygiene satndards. You’ll work closely with the Café Manager and ownership to develop seasonal menus, manage kitchen supplies, and uphold food safety and quality standards. This role requires a hands-on leadership role requiring professionalism, passion for hospitality, and a heart for creating food that brings people together.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead the day-to-day operations of the kitchen, ensuring quality, efficiency, and consistency
Plan and develop seasonal menus in line with the café’s vision and customer needs
Prepare and present high-quality meals with attention to taste and presentation
Train, supervise, and support kitchen team members • Manage kitchen stock levels, ordering, and supplier relationships
Maintain kitchen hygiene and food safety standards at all times
Minimise food wastage and manage food costs effectively • Collaborate with café management on specials, promotions, and new initiatives
Build a positive, respectful, and motivated kitchen culture
Ensure compliance with workplace health and safety policies
Contribute to the broader mission of the café by helping create a welcoming and connected community space
Requirements:
Minimum 3 years’ experience as a Chef, preferably in a leadership role
Strong skills in menu planning, food preparation, and kitchen management
Thorough knowledge of food safety standards and kitchen best practices
Ability to lead and motivate a team in a fast-paced environment
Creativity, passion for food, and attention to detail
Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to excellence
Availability to work early mornings and occasional events
Ability to work collaboratively with the broader café team Preferred
Qualifications:
● Certificate III in Commercial Cookery (or equivalent experience)
● Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
● Current Blue Card (or willingness to obtain)

Pay: From $53,300.00 per year
