Assistant Fashion Designer Job Opportunity in Mapleville, RI (60% Remote)

This role reports directly to our Creative Director.

Key Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly creative and fashion-forward individual to lead the development of seasonal releases and private label products. Your primary responsibilities will include:

• Conducting market research to stay up-to-date on current trends, styles, and colors

• Creating mood boards for collection inspiration and style tracking

• Collaborating with cross-functional teams to evaluate colors based on market trends and sales data

• Preparing Technical Packages (TPs) that clearly communicate style and technical details for accurate style development

• Meeting deadlines and delivering high-quality designs on time

• Expertly sketching garments via flat and online tools

• Measuring garments, fitting, and processing TPs according to established standards

• Communicating effectively with all stakeholders to ensure timely delivery and superior product quality

• Creating private label TPs as directed by incoming orders

• Executing specific design development projects assigned by the company

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

• A degree or certification in Apparel Design or equivalent work experience

• 1-2 years of experience in an apparel-related role

• Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate with partners in Design, Production, Sales, and Social Media

• Ability to work effectively in a team environment

• Creativity, innovation, and cost-effectiveness in design solutions

• Technical knowledge of knit sweater construction and manufacturing techniques

• Ability to research and report on industry trend direction, color direction, and fabric innovations approximately +-12 months ahead of season

• Adaptability in a fast-paced, demanding, and highly creative environment

• Self-starter mentality with goal-oriented focus

• Expertise in sketching or communicating design ideas

• Proficiency in Adobe programs and Microsoft Office tools, particularly Excel.
