Heavy Truck Driver

Job Title: Heavy Truck Driver II
The City of San Diego is seeking highly skilled and experienced Heavy Truck Driver IIs to join our team. As a Heavy Truck Driver II, you will be responsible for operating heavy truck/trailer combination vehicles where the trailer towed has a gross vehicle weight (GVW) of over 6,000 pounds and/or vehicles with a total GVW of 54,000 pounds with complex manual transmissions.

Key Responsibilities:
Complete daily Driver's Inspection Reports
Assist in loading and unloading trucks
Perform unskilled construction and maintenance work
Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements:
Six months of full-time experience operating vehicles which require a California Class A or B Driver License
A valid California Class A Driver License AND a valid California Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) medical certificate dated within the last two years
Ability to operate complex manual transmissions
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience driving 13-speed manual transmission vehicles
Tank Endorsement within six months from date of hire
Working Conditions:
Extended periods of night or unusual shift work may be required
24-hour shift work may be included
Drug and alcohol testing may be required
