Software Development Engineer

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Java Developer in Chicago, IL. We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced professional to contribute to the development and maintenance of cutting-edge trading systems.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience with Java development, particularly in low-latency trading systems and real-time data processing. They will be responsible for designing, developing, and implementing high-performance Java applications, optimizing existing code, and collaborating with stakeholders to translate requirements into technical solutions.

Responsibilities
Design and develop high-performance Java applications for trading platforms.
Optimize existing code for performance and scalability.
Work closely with traders, quants, and other stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including requirements gathering, design, development, testing, and deployment.
Ensure code quality through unit and integration testing, code reviews, and adherence to best practices.
Troubleshoot and resolve production issues quickly and efficiently.
Contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tools.
Stay up-to-date with the latest technologies and trends in Java development and the financial industry.

Requirements
Extensive Java development experience (preferably 7+ years) in the Banking, Finance, or Trading industry.
Deep understanding of low-latency trading systems and real-time data processing.
Strong knowledge of concurrent programming and multi-threading in Java.
Experience with performance tuning and optimization techniques.
Proficiency with data structures and algorithms.
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Strong communication and collaboration skills.

Desirable Skills
Experience with messaging systems (e.g., Kafka, RabbitMQ).
Knowledge of FIX protocol.
Familiarity with Agile development methodologies.
Experience with cloud technologies (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP).
Understanding of financial markets and instruments.
