BP Energy seeks a seasoned Senior Process Safety Engineer to join our team in Pune, India. As a key member of our engineering group, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our assets.

Job Description

This role involves providing deep process safety engineering expertise and judgment to support the assets, working closely with regional squad leads to ensure efficient handover of issues requiring engineering input. You will be responsible for implementing pragmatic solutions for risk management, production efficiency improvement, maintenance, defect elimination, and engineering standardization in support of safe, reliable, and compliant operations.
Key Responsibilities
• Provide process safety expertise to other teams by performing and reviewing complex or non-routine process safety engineering calculations and analysis
• Support MoCs, brownfield projects, and modifications, hazard identification, and risk assessment processes
• Ensure appropriate process safety-related assessments are carried out for SORAs, HITRAs, and ORAs to manage risks associated with design
• Monitor design and operating envelope excursions and ensure P&PS engineering documentation is up-to-date
• Support regional Quantitative Risk Assessment (QRA) and Major Accident Risk (MAR) revalidation
• Record relevant learnings in shared learning systems and escalate high-priority lessons
Requirements
• Degree in Chemical Engineering or equivalent
• 12 years of experience in oil and gas/petrochemical or equivalent industries
• Extensive technical understanding of process engineering and process modelling tools
• Good understanding of risk management, including use of risk barrier diagrams processes in the oil and gas industry
• Proven ability in practical application of engineering standards and practices for process engineering
• Fluent in English, written and oral
