About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Database Administrator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have hands-on experience with databases such as MongoDB, PostgreSQL, and will be responsible for ensuring data integrity, performance, availability, and security.
The successful candidate will be able to install, configure, upgrade, and manage database systems, enforce and implement robust database security measures, roles, user access, and privileges. Additionally, they will plan, test, and execute disaster recovery strategies and high-availability setups, perform database patching and upgrades according to industry best practices, monitor and optimize database performance, query response times, and uptime.
This role requires strong problem-solving skills, excellent organizational and time management skills, and solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization techniques. The successful candidate will also be proficient in implementing database security frameworks and access controls, and familiar with tools and scripting for automation and monitoring.
Responsibilities:
• Install, configure, upgrade, and manage database systems
• Enforce and implement robust database security measures, roles, user access, and privileges
• Plan, test, and execute disaster recovery strategies and high-availability setups
• Perform database patching and upgrades according to industry best practices
• Monitor and optimize database performance, query response times, and uptime
• Identify, design, and implement process enhancements to improve data flow and system reliability
• Document and enforce database policies, procedures, and standards
• Collaborate with development and DevOps teams to support integration and scalability needs
Requirements:
• Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience in administration of MongoDB, PostgreSQL, or similar databases
• Proven ability to standardize database installation and configuration processes
• Strong experience in disaster recovery planning, high availability implementations, and data backup strategies
• Excellent problem-solving skills with a logical and algorithmic approach to challenges
• Strong organizational and time management skills to handle multiple priorities
• Solid understanding of database performance tuning and optimization techniques
• Proficient in implementing database security frameworks and access controls
• Familiarity with tools and scripting for automation and monitoring
Preferred Skills:
• Experience with PL/pgSQL is highly beneficial
• Experience with cloud-based database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database, GCP)
• Scripting knowledge (e.g., Shell, Python) for automation tasks
• Knowledge of DevOps concepts and database integration in CI/CD pipelines
