The primary scope of the position is to support the manager and more senior DBAs of the Operational team in every day activities by executing different technical and non-technical tasks as directed and supervised by the DBAs and the manager of the team. By working under their direction, the DBA will increase his/her knowledge in the database technologies used in KNA and KNA’s practices and processes. By attending assigned training in one or more technology currently adopted by KNA the DBA will increase his/her contribution to the distribution of the workload across the team.
Primary Responsibilities
• Provides supervised operational support in the management of databases based on: MSSQL from version 2014 through 2026 on (Physical or VMWare, EC2, Azure VM), WSFC clusters and AO clusters, Azure SQL, SQL Server Replication.
• Performs initial Triage and information collection for Alerts and Sev1/2 with escalation to more senior DBAs as needed.
• Supports T2/T3 DBAs in the resolution and documentation for Alerts and Sev1/2.
• The position requires availability for on-call rotation, to work outside regular business hours, and on weekends
• Following and enforcing policies and procedures, executing tasks delegated and supervised by T2 and T3 DBAs.
• Collect DB performance KPIs as directed by more Senior DBAs for management and the Database engineering team.
• Helps T2/T3 DBA in installing and upgrading DBA utility tools.
• Help updating technical documentation.
• Proactively work in increasing technology-related knowledge by using available training material and requesting T2/T3 mentoring.
• Hybrid Scheduled: 2 days remote / 2 days in office
• 30-day notification period preferred
Minimum Qualifications
• BS in IT or equivalent experience
• Tier 1: 2 Years to date of operational support on MSSQL in multiple versions and platforms (see list of primary responsibilities).
• The position requires skills in these database platforms.
• MSSQL (see details in primary responsibilities)
• Operational skills required for the position:
• Junior level working knowledge for Set up, optimization, troubleshooting and support of the DB platforms.
Preferred Qualifications
• Basic knowledge level of Azure and/or AWS
• Experience with Bash, PowerShell, Python or comparable scripting languages.
• Familiar with Agile methodologies, and use of tools like Google workspace, Jira, GitHub, ServiceNow
• Familiar with SolarWinds (monitoring and DPA) and Redgate software
