About the Law Team

BlueRock Law is a growing boutique to mid-sized commercial law firm. We are part of a multidisciplinary advisory firm of 300+. Located in the Melbourne CBD, we work in a vibrant, social office. Our law team is made up of staff providing services across litigation, migration, wills & estates, tax law, property, and commercial.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity for a lawyer with tax and general corporate/commercial experience to quickly become BlueRock’s go-to advisor for our start-up, SME and national clients.

You’ll be the trusted advisor for BlueRock accountants, financial planners, brokers and wealth management professionals and their clients’ tax and commercial matters. What does this mean? Your own powerful network under the one roof, with heaps of referrals to grow your client base straight away!

What you'll be doing

Delivering expert advice on income tax, state taxes and duties, employee share plans, and tax disputes and ensure practical client solutions.
Managing disputes with revenue authorities.
Contributing to commercial law matters like business restructures and mergers and acquisitions.
Managing the delivery and implementation of legal advice from end-to-end.
Conducting legal research, prepare letters and memos of advice, and draft commercial legal documents like shareholders agreements, business sale agreements and trust deeds to address a variety of client needs.
Collaborating closely with BlueRock’s multidisciplinary teams, working seamlessly with legal, accounting, and finance specialists to deliver holistic and innovative solutions.

Working with an exciting SME and start up client base! Our clients are span multiple industries including property development, tech, music and media.
Requirements

2-5 years PAE at a mid-tier or top-tier law firm, with a strong focus on tax and duties law.
In depth knowledge of Australian tax law.
Demonstrated experience advising in a range of tax, duties and commercial matters.
Amazing attention to detail and prioritisation skills.
A passion for the law and for providing outstanding support.
