About the role
Intelligence Analysts within the Criminal Intelligence Assessments Team provide key support to securing the aviation and maritime environment by conducting collection, evaluation and analysis of information used to produce Criminal Intelligence Assessments. Working with a range of internal and external stakeholders, these assessments directly support the CEO’s decision-making responsibility regarding the suitability of Aviation and Maritime Security Identification Card applicants. Intelligence Analysts have strong written and verbal communication skills, the ability to think critically and the drive to tackle complex problems.
With access to unique ACIC capabilities including human intelligence, coercive examinations, and physical and technical surveillance, Intelligence Analysts also craft intelligence products that inform emerging risks and threats in the criminal operating environment. They further develop their skills by interpreting, considering and applying administrative law processes in an intelligence environment, to ensure that individuals with links to serious and organised crime cannot gain access to our airport and port facilities for criminal purposes.

To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate the following experience, skills and attributes:

Ability to develop a range of high-quality intelligence products that inform decision-making by internal and external stakeholders.
Ability to apply advanced data interrogation, research capabilities and threat assessment methodologies, including the use of information technology to undertake analysis and assess threats.
Highly developed oral and written communication skills which are underpinned by strong critical thinking skills.
Captures insights from intelligence operations and investigations, and participate in ACIC intelligence collection activities and processes.
Maintains high level awareness of the serious and organised crime environment to identify priorities, including new and emerging threats and nationally-significant criminal activity.
Applies well-developed knowledge and understanding of relevant statutory, regulatory and policy frameworks for intelligence within a law enforcement environment.
Supports inter-disciplinary and inter-agency liaison to maintain productive networks and to promote information sharing, partnerships and common understanding.
Contributes to a collegiate approach within the team that promotes a culture of flexibility and improvement.
Essential qualifications
Ability to successfully complete the Criminal Intelligence Development Program Level 1 and level 2
Desirable qualifications
Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or thematic knowledge of serious and organised crime and the factors that drive and influence crime.
Eligibility
Citizenship – To be eligible for employment with the ACIC, applicants must be an Australian citizen.
Security Clearance - The Australian community expects ACIC employees to maintain the highest levels of security and integrity. Successful applicants will be required to obtain and maintain a minimum Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance.
