Job Description
Key Responsibilities :
- Database Installation & Configuration : Install, configure, and upgrade MySQL and Oracle database software across various environments.
- Backup & Recovery : Implement, test, and manage comprehensive backup and recovery strategies for both MySQL and Oracle databases to ensure data integrity and business continuity.
- Performance Tuning : Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, and perform expert-level tuning for both MySQL and Oracle to optimize query execution and overall system responsiveness.
- Monitoring & Troubleshooting : Set up and maintain database monitoring tools, proactively identify issues, and rapidly troubleshoot and resolve database-related problems.
- High Availability & Disaster Recovery : Implement and maintain high availability solutions (e.g., Oracle Data Guard, MySQL Replication, AlwaysOn) and disaster recovery procedures.
- Security Management : Implement and enforce database security best practices, user access controls, and auditing policies.
- Patching & Upgrades : Plan and execute database patching, version upgrades, and migration activities with minimal downtime.
- Capacity Planning : Monitor database growth and provide recommendations for capacity planning.
- Scripting & Automation : Develop and maintain scripts for database automation, routine tasks, and reporting.
- Collaboration : Work closely with development teams, system administrators, and application support to ensure database support for critical business Skills & Qualifications :
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of hands-on experience as a Database Administrator for both MySQL and Oracle RDBMS.
- Strong expertise in MySQL database administration, including replication (Master-Slave, Group Replication), performance tuning, and troubleshooting.
- Strong expertise in Oracle RDBMS administration, including Oracle RAC, Data Guard, ASM, RMAN, and performance tuning (AWR, ADDM).
- Proficiency in SQL and PL/SQL for Oracle.
- Experience with database monitoring tools.
- Familiarity with cloud database services (e.g., AWS RDS, Azure Database for MySQL/Oracle) is a plus.
- Strong scripting skills (Shell, Python, or Perl).
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
