Your responsibilities will include:
As a B1.3 Licensed Aircraft Maintenance Engineer, you’ll play a critical role in ensuring the airworthiness and mission readiness of rotary-wing aircraft within a Defence aviation environment. This role supports Maintenance Managers by coordinating maintenance activities, supervising personnel, and conducting certification tasks in line with DASA and AFCAMAN regulations.
You’ll also perform Error Capture inspections as an Independent Inspector, ensuring maintenance integrity and safety standards are upheld across all operations.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake maintenance and certification within the scope of your DASA-issued B1.3 MAML
Conduct and certify maintenance tasks in accordance with AFCAMAN Book IV, Chapter 3
Perform Error Capture (Independent Inspector) inspections on work performed by other maintainers
Ensure compliance with technical data, warnings, cautions, and procedural instructions
Operate only authorised and serviceable ground/test equipment
Adhere strictly to tool control protocols and safety procedures
Validate airworthiness of components and systems prior to fitment
Identify and document follow-on maintenance tasks and support equipment requirements
Elevate concerns regarding physical or psychological fitness that may impact maintenance safety
Supervise and coordinate assigned teams to execute maintenance to the highest standard

Essential Qualifications
DASA-issued B1.3 MAML (without E62 Supervision exclusion)
Cert IV Aeroskills – Mechanical (or higher), from a recognised institution
Platform-specific safety familiarisation course (or equivalent)
Completed system/component-specific training for applicable platforms
Demonstrated competence and authorisation in task performance
Essential Experience & Competencies
Extensive experience on rotary-wing aircraft and/or components
Proven record as an Independent Inspector in a Defence aviation setting
Strong knowledge of DASRs and airworthiness systems
Understanding of Plan, Brief, Execute, Debrief (PBED) principles
Deep awareness of Human Factors in maintenance
Excellent leadership, planning, and communication skills
Strong WHS knowledge and compliance mindset
High computer literacy and ability to analyse technical data and reporting
Special Requirements:
